I had the opportunity to dance in some excellent choreography by Jean Isaacs with Trystan Loucado. Here are some photos of the experience, courtesy of the artist, Adriene Hughes.

I choreographed this piece as a vehicle for young ballet students to explore basic Modern ideas at the (excellent) Jillana School in Taos, NM. It was a gift to see in performed at their student demonstration!

My first attempt at a group piece! I have so much gratitude for the corp dancers of the California Ballet who donated their time, effort, artistry and enthusiam. And of course I'm so thankful for Maxine Mahon, who let me see my attempt on a stage ;) As for Philip Glass, his music moved us all and I'd just fall over if I ever had the opportunity to work as a choreographer in his sound.

My Very First Piece Ever!...I was roped into choreographing this by a persistent student in need of an audition piece. (Never found out why she hounded me as I wasn't a choreographer and I spent many weeks hemming and hawing at her before committing!) Maxine Mahon, Director of California Ballet, was ever gracious in affording me the experience of putting it on stage in 2006. Dancers: The very talented Amanda Daly... & me... fresh from a seven year vacation from dancing... keep the expectations really low!

My gratitude runs deep for the founders of San Diego Academy of Ballet for welcoming me to their spring performance, for Monica for her extraordinary commitment & artistic sincerity, and for the students of SDAB, Kaitlyn, Adriana, Tessa, Sofia, & Amanda who embraced something new and ran with it. This process was quite fun, though altogether too brief. I'm looking forward to next year, & to greater opportunity to explore artistic point of view with the dancers & students of SDAB.
It's beautiful Summer! Really moving. I can't wait to see the updated version. Beautiful dancers! read more
